A Quick Layover

An Afternoon with Old Friends
11/03/2012 @ 홍대 [Hongdae]

JC & Katrina have completed there journey throughout SE Asia. Before heading back to the States, they had a few hours to hang out in Seoul while waiting for their connecting flight. Josh & I met them at the airport with their luggage that has been sitting around my apartment for a couple months. We went out to Hongdae for dinner and drinks. After 5 or 6 hours, we sadly had to say goodbye once more. I was still more than happy to see them for a few more hours.

Summer of 2012

This was supposed to be a number of shorter videos, but I decided to compile all of the footage together into one SUMMER video. It felt very nostalgic making this video. Many of the people involved have since departed and moved on the other things. Enjoy!

GAM JA TANG

The Most Amazing Soup Ever
11/02/2012 @ 수원 [Suwon]

About two weeks ago, we were trying to find a new restaurant after a normal Wednesday workday. We had heard rumors of a delicious pig spine soup called 감자탕 [Gam-ja Tang]. Lucky for all of us, we found a restaurant that served that exact meal. Turns out, it's pretty much the most delicious thing in the entire world.

How to get to DGBD in 홍대 [Hongdae]:
Hapjeong Station [합정역] (Seoul Subway Line 2 & 6) - Exit 3
Walk straight out of exit 3 and continue for about 5 minutes. When you come to a major intersection, turn right. Follow this road for another 5 minutes. You will come to a big Family Mart (CU) on the right. There is a nice big patio outside. Turn right at the intersection before the Family Mart. You will see DGBD right there on the right. It's right next to Castle Praha.

Parham's Pal Party

Return of the Villager
10/14/2012 @ 홍대 [Hongdae]

Parham is one of the most active people I know. He is always taking trips and meeting new people. Lately, he has been participating in an ultimate frisbee league that plays all over Korea. He has spent a lot of weekends away from his Avalon family and his ever-so-important extended Seoul family. He arranged for all of his friends to meet up and have one good night. It was pretty epic. It was one of those nights that ended on a subway at 6 or 7 in the morning.

How to get to Hongdae:
Hongik University Station [홍대입구역] (Seoul Subway Line 2) - Exit 9 / Exit 8
Exit 9 is the most common exit that will take you straight to the fun. I personally like exit 8; it's a little farther away from the action, but far less busy.

Friends From Iowa

Angela & Luke's Visit
10/07~08/2012

I went out to Incheon Airport to meet up with Angela and Luke when they arrived in Seoul about a month ago. We really didn't have too much time together, but we were still able to see quite a bit. We went to 홍대 [Hongdae], 인사동 [Insadong], 경복궁 [Gyeongbokgung], 광화문 [Gwanghwamun], 청계천 [Cheongyecheon], & 명동 [Myeongdong]. I sadly didn't take enough photos, but here's what I've got.

Children's Grand Park
10/01/2012 @ 어린이대공원 [Children's Grand Park]

Erik, Ji-hyun & I took a trip to the children's zoo in Seoul, out by 뚝섬 [Ttukseom]. The zoo was pretty small and sad, but it was still a fun afternoon followed by another night out in 홍대 [Hongdae].

Josh & I went out to the other park the very next day. I was there a little over a year ago, and it was as great as I remembered it. It was a super fun time hanging out with the animals.
