Itaewon Mini-Golf Game

Untitled

Four Rounds of the Best Game Ever
(with the best people ever)
08/25/2012 @ 이태원 [Itaewon]

My day started by doing a little trade-up for a new wide-angle lens. I'm pretty darn happy with my new Canon 28mm f/1.8. I took a few photos around the 용산 [Yongsan] area before heading out for coffee with 안나 [Anna]. We did some chitchatting until Chelsea came out too meet us. This whole day was great, because our group just kept growing. After this, the three of us met with JC & Katrina at Taco Amigo for food and margaritas. Then Golf began upon meeting up with Drew, 리나 [Lina] & Justin. This was very unexpected, yet very welcomed. For rules and photos from another golf game, click here. After a few holes, the game pretty much ended, and we all settled on the roof of Nashville. This is where Josh met up with us. We just had a few more drinks, danced, went to a mart, drank a bit more, danced a bit more, then went home. Great night!

How to get to Homestead Coffee in Itaewon [이태원]:
Itaewon Station [이태원역] (Seoul Subway Line 6) - Exit 2
Walk out of the exit and look up and to your left. It's right outside; maybe a 30 second walk.

How to get to Taco Amigo in Itaewon [이태원]:
Itaewon Station [이태원역] (Seoul Subway Line 6) - Exit 4
Walk out of the exit and flip a 180 to your left. This leads you straight to the main intersection in Itaewon [이태원]. Turn right at the intersection and walk down the hill. After you cross the street down the hill, Taco Amigo is the third or forth establishment on the right.

How to get to Nashville in Itaewon [이태원]:
Itaewon Station [이태원역] (Seoul Subway Line 6) - Exit 4
Walk straight out of the exit for about 5 minutes. Keep your eyes on the signs on the building on your left; there is a big "Nashville" sign at the top of one of the buildings. It's on the second floor, but walk all the way to the top of the stairs, and there is a patio on the roof.

Yongsan Excursion

Arcades & Soju Tents
08/19/2012 @ 용산역 [Yongsan]

Justin is back in full force! We saw him on Friday night at 주락 [Jurak] for some beers, then, he we met Chelsea & Justin in 용사 on Sunday for some arcade action and beers in a soju tent. It's good to have that friend back in country.

How to get to Yongsan Station [용산역]:
Method 1: Yongsan Station [용산역] (Seoul Subway Line 1 & Jungang Line [중앙산]) - Exit 1

The station exits directly into a mall / shopping center. You will find all kinds of things in here, or you can go out side the main entrance [Exit 1] and walk down the stairs and across the street. About 50 meters down the street on the right are a whole bunch of soju tents.

Method 2: Sinyongsan Statoin [신용산역] (Seoul Subway Line 4) - Exit 3
Exit the station and walk for about one minute. Take your first right turn. After you turn, you will notice the mass of soju tents on your left, but if you continue walking straight, you will see Yongsan Station [용산역] directly in front of you. Walk straight for 2 minutes and cross the street, and you're there.

Gyeongbokgung - 경복궁

Summer Time Sightseeing
08/18/2012 @ 경복궁 [Gyeongbokgung]

Saturday was great. 안나 [Anna] and I went out to 경복궁 [Gyeongbokgung] in the afternoon. She is from 부산 [Busan] and had never been there. We walked around, talked history and took a whole bunch of pictures. After the palace, we made our way over to the folk museum where we saw a demonstration of an old traditional style of Korean fighting. By this time, we were really hungry, so we went to my favorite 칼국수 [Kalgugsu] restaurant in 삼청동 [Samcheong-dong]. On top of all that, we walked out to 인사동 [Insadong] and hit some balls in the batting cages. Successful day!

How to get to Gyeongbokgung - 경복궁:
Gyeongbokgung Station [경복궁역] (Seoul Subway Line 3) - Exit 5
When you walk out of the exit, you are right next to the Palace Museum, but if you look to your right, the palace is right there.

How to get to Samcheong-dong - 삼청동:
Anguk Station [안국역] (Seoul Subway Line 3) - Exit 1
Exit 1 actually leaves the station via a building. When you exit out onto the street, turn right. Walk for about 1 minute, and you will reach a right turn; you will notice that you are walking down a street with walls on both sides. The first five minutes on this street are pretty dull; you will be walking in a school zone. In total, you should follow this street for about 10-15 minutes until it Ts off. This is Samcheong-ro. Even though it's a bit of a walk, before you get to Samcheong-ro, you will walk past about a hundred cafes, restaurants and boutiques.

How to get to Insa-dong - 인사동:
Anguk Station [안국역] (Seoul Subway Line 3) - Exit 6
Exit the station and turn right down the immediate street. This is Insa-dong.

Itaewon with East Siders

Sunday evening in Itaewon
08/12/2012 @ 이태원 [Itaewon]

Last weekend, on Sunday evening, 안나 [Anna] & I went out to 이태원 to meet up with 소리 [Sori] & Erik. We started the night with some Thai food. It was a surprisingly large amount of food, but the majority of it was still consumed. Erik has the capability of being a human garbage disposal. Just toss whatever you don't want his way, and it simply disappears. AMAZING. After food, we were thinking about finding a nice hookah bar, but we didn't know of any that didn't have time limits, so we just settled for beers at Sam Ryan's. It was super pleasant!

How to get to Sam Ryan's:
Itaewon Station [이태원역] (Seoul Subway Line 6) - Exit 1
Walk straight out the exit and take a right turn at your first possible alley; it's right after KFC. Walk up the little hill and take a left at the "T" intersection. Walk to the first intersection, and Sam Ryan's is on your right side, after the intersection.
